Sunshine Ranches Equestrian Park

The Town of Southwest Ranches is lush with greenery and we've made it a priority to protect the beautiful open spaces in our Town. The Town has acquired approximately 150 acres of land for parks and open spaces since it's incorporation in June 2000.

Among the many planned and existing amenities for Southwest Ranches' parks are: trailhead facilities, picnic areas, concession stands, grills, play areas, restrooms, horse trails, fitness courses, nature trails, boardwalks, multipurpose trails, fishing, boat ramps, and historical museums. Future park properties are located proximally to each neighborhood in Town. Each of our parks has been funded, in part, by State and County grants, and amenities have been planned so that each neighborhood will enjoy a park that, while providing recreational space for the entire Town, is uniquely its own.  

Over the coming years, the following list of properties will be developed for the enjoyment of all residents and visitors. For more information on any individual park, click on its name.  

Trailside Park This small recreational area on our border provides a passive open space buffer to commercial development on the East side of Town.

Sunshine Ranches Equestrian Park The first park in Town to be developed, this lovely facility has an equestrian focus and is currently open to the public.

Southwest Meadows Sanctuary The Crown Jewel of Southwest Ranches recreational spaces and future site of Town Hall.  

Southwest Meadows Sanctuary/Calusa Corners The newest addition in our Parks lineup, this parcel provides a green open vista amidst burgeoning development.  

Rolling Oaks Passive Truly a treasure, this large open space will be preserved forever as a passive recreational facility.  

Country Estates Fishing Hole Experience a trip back in time when you visit. This park will provide an historic look at one of South Florida 's favorite pastimes.

Frontier Trails Preservation and thriving communities of native plants and animals will be the highlight of your trip to Frontier Trails. "Take only photos, leave only footprints."

Recreation, Forestry, & Natural Resources Advisory Board

To assist in obtaining resident input for Parks and recreational spaces, the Council appointed an Advisory Board in the summer of 2004 and expanded the Board's purview to include Recreation and Forestry in January 2007.

Meetings of the Recreation, Forestry, & Natural Resources Advisory Board take place on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM at the Town Hall. Discussions include plans for parks and trails as well as recommendations for the management and maintenance of recreation spaces in general.
